How to edit the navigation menu of your Google sites

The navigation menu is a type of gadget and is contained within your website's sidebar. The navigation gadget contains links to main pages of your website. You may want to change the orders of the links in your navigation menu or add new links to it in case of creating new pages for example. This tutorial will show how to edit your navigation menu.

Visit Google Sites at: https://sites.google.com and sign in with your Google account. Click 'More' -> 'Manage Site' in the top navigation bar.

In the 'Manage Site' window, click the 'Site layout' link on the left.

On the right, under sidebar tab, find the navigation gadget and click the edit link.

In the new pop up window, under 'Select pages to display' tab, you can change the order of the links in your navigation menu by clicking the 'Move up', 'Move down', ‘Indent’ and ‘Outdent’ button.

  • 'Move up' and 'Move down': They allow you to decide the order of a page (i.e. above or below a page).
  • 'Indent' and 'Outdent': They allow you to place a page at the main level of the navigation or make a page appear underneath another main page.

In case of adding a new page to your navigation menu, click the 'Add page' link below the new pop up window.

In the 'Select page to add' window, select the page that you want to be displayed in the navigation menu and click ‘OK’ button.

When you are happy with your navigation settings, click ‘OK’ button in the 'Configure Navigation' window.

Finally, remember to click 'SAVE' button in the 'Manage Site' window.
