How to ping your blogger blog with Ping-O-Matic

After your blogger blogs have been crawled and indexed by search engines such as Google or Microsoft's Bing (click here for more details), you may find that it would take 4-5 days for your new posts to appear in the search results.

Pinging your blogs would help reduce this time as it helps tell search engines like Google or Microsoft's Bing that your blogs have new contents. In addition, it may help drive traffic to your blogs as your new posts are now crawled by search engines and then can be found by surfers.

There are many blog pinging services. One of them is Ping-O-Matic. It is an easy-to-use service.

First you need to visit its website at: http://pingomatic.com

Under 'Blog details' tab, fill in the name of your blog, your blog's home page, and your default blog feed (that is http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default)

Under 'Services to Ping' tab, you may choose to tick the following:

  • Weblogs.com
  • Google Blog Search
  • Feed Burner
  • My Yahoo!
  • BlogStreet
Of course you can choose to tick all the 'common services' by clicking the 'Check All' link.

Finally, you can click the 'Send Pings' button to complete your task.

You can also bookmark the result page for pinging your new posts in the future without having to re-enter the information under 'Blog details' and  'Services to Ping' tab.
